GDC Welcomes Evan Ashton
With over a decade’s worth of expertise building sponsorships for major sports franchises, Evan Ashton is now helping GDC create partnerships and enhancing the agency’s new business pipeline.
Evan began his marketing career as an intern with the Pittsburg Steelers while earning his Bachelor’s degree in business administration and sports management from Robert Morris University. While with the Steelers, he assisted with everything from gameday activations, season ticket sales and even supported the youth football arm of the team.
After graduation, he moved to Indiana to join Hardball Capital as a corporate sales executive for the Minor League Baseball team, the Fort Wayne TinCaps. Soon after, Evan was promoted to the position of Corporate Partnerships Manager. By 2016, Evan was promoted to Vice President of Partnerships for another MiLB team owned by Hardball Capital, the Columbia Fireflies in Columbia, SC. In this position, he was part of team leadership that launched a new MiLB club, the Fireflies, and development of Spirit Communications Park. This park would be declared “Best Ballpark of the Year” in Ballpark magazine, 2016.
Later, Evan moved to New Orleans, where he became a Senior Corporate Partnerships Account Executive for the New Orleans Saints team. Two years later, Evan brought his talents to San Antonio where he was named the Vice President of Corporate Partnerships for the San Antonio Commanders, part of the Alliance of American Football league. Evan oversaw creative partnership marketing strategies, including the launch of Commanders Beer, Commanders Amber and Commanders Light, a first-of-its-kind partnership with Alamo Beer. The Commanders were the highest-grossing team in the league in partnership and merchandise revenue, and game attendance.
When the league disbanded in 2019, Evan transitioned to the San Antonio Spurs Sports and Entertainment where he worked as a senior corporate account executive. The COVID pandemic caused him to leave the Spurs and join GDC.
Evan’s experience working with major brands, including Toyota, Anheuser-Bush, Pepsi, HEB and Cadillac, has been invaluable to GDC’s team and new business structure. Evan continues to help us grow partnerships with brands and clients of all sizes.
When he’s not expertly navigating brand partnerships for GDC, Evan can be found mountain biking, woodworking, completing home improvement projects, playing golf or doing any outdoor activity. Evan currently lives in San Antonio, Texas, with his two rescue dogs, Liath and Remi.
