After five years with us, GDC team members are offered the opportunity to take a one-month sabbatical. This coveted paid time off means different things to different people — a time for professional development, personal introspection, pursuing other passions, immersing in invaluable family time, or simply unplugging and recharging. Since our most valuable assets are the experts that make up our team, we can not overstate the importance of providing this benefit that prevents burnout, enhances work-life balance, and shows a token of our appreciation for their commitment to GDC and the clients we serve.
After seven years at GDC, media traffic manager Tiffany Albrecht took her opportunity for a well-deserved sabbatical to fiesta and siesta. This break was a celebration of her contributions and achievements at GDC, packed with adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences. Here's a look at how she spent her month off and the incredible opportunities that a paid sabbatical can offer.
Tiffany’s sabbatical kicked off with one of her favorite events: Fiesta San Antonio’s vibrant NIOSA celebration. It was an epic evening filled with laughter, dancing, and taking in the lively sights of downtown San Antonio. This celebration set the tone for her exciting month ahead.
Next, she set off to attend the International Fallen Firefighters Softball Tournament in Las Vegas. This unique event combined competitive softball with a meaningful cause, honoring fallen firefighters and strengthening the bonds within her beloved fire family.
The second week took Tiffany to the stunning beaches of Cabo San Lucas for a dear friend’s wedding. This week was filled with joyous celebrations, breathtaking sunsets, and the serene beauty of the ocean. Amidst the wedding festivities, Tiffany found time to relax by the beach, soaking up the sun and sea with friends and family. Having two of her kids join made this trip even more special, creating unforgettable memories together.
From Cabo, Tiffany and her fiancé traveled to the enchanting city of San Miguel de Allende. Known for its colonial architecture, vibrant arts scene, and rich culture, San Miguel offered a perfect blend of exploration and relaxation. Wandering through cobblestone streets, visiting local markets, and immersing in the artistic atmosphere of this historic city made them appreciate the importance of travel and cultural experiences. They even ventured to Guanajuato to see the ancient mummies on display.
The final week of her sabbatical was dedicated to rest and rejuvenation at home. Tiffany indulged in some much-needed relaxation, catching up on her favorite shows and tackling DIY projects. From redecorating her outdoor living space to playing with her pups, this week balanced productivity and relaxation, allowing her to explore her creative side before returning to work reinspired.
Tiffany’s one-month sabbatical was an amazing blend of adventure, celebration, and relaxation. It not only marked her seventh anniversary at GDC but also provided a well-deserved break to recharge and return refreshed. “Having the opportunity to take a sabbatical made me feel extremely valued as an employee,” Tiffany shared. “It tells me that my company leaders take my work/life balance seriously and care about my mental health while also appreciating the work I have put in.” Here’s to many more years of success and happiness for Tiffany at GDC!
