GDC Welcomes Lisa-Marie Barocas

Lisa-Marie uses her 35 years’ worth of experience in public relations, marketing and journalism to create out-of-the-box solutions that get results for GDC clients.

After receiving her BA in Broadcast Journalism from Texas State University, Lisa Marie worked her skills for newspapers and television stations across the state. Her years in journalism and broadcasting include work with The San Antonio Express-News, Brownsville Herald and The Monitor. Her work for the San Antonio Express-News won her a Top National Award for investigative journalism. In contrast, several of her articles in the Brownsville Herald won her APME awards.

After working as an award-winning journalist, she made a career transition to public relations and marketing. Since this transition, she has worked with KGBTexas and started her own public relations and communication firm, LMG Communications, LLC. In her years in marketing, she has provided full campaigns, public relations assistance and experiential marketing for local and national clients, including AT&T, LiftFund, National MS Society, Waves Resort in Corpus Christi and YMCA of Greater San Antonio. She also worked on an international NGO communications campaign called Hope for Humans in Uganda. She first joined GDC as a Media Relations Manager in 2007 where she worked with clients, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Time Warner Cable. Lisa Marie returned to GDC in 2022. She now works with our team of account supervisors, creatives and media to coordinate clients’ needs and ensure their complete satisfaction.

When she’s not coordinating fantastic work for our clients, Lisa Marie can often be found in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where she owns a condo. In addition to her public relations firm, she also flexes her entrepreneurial muscles by running an interior design business called San Miguel Living where she designs and sells hand-painted patio umbrellas. Lisa Marie has been a board member of the San Antonio River Foundation since 2018 and serves on the executive committee. She enjoys swimming, cycling along the river, playing pickleball and spending time with her three grown children.
